IMBA SORBA Take a Kid MTB Day!

Take a Kid MTB DayOn Saturday, Oct. 3, Bryson City Bicycles will host young riders, ages 6 to 16, for a FREE youth mountain biking event. The ride is part of a nationwide celebration known as Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, supported by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). More info:
Riders Welcome. There is a maximum of 25 spaces available, so participation will be on a first come first serve basis. Pre-registration is required.
Bryson City Bicycles welcomes all local riders who want to have a fun day on their bikes. Here’s everything you need to know:
• Register in advance at Bryson City Bicycles at 157 Everett St., Bryson City or by calling BCB at 828-488-1988.
• Meeting place is at the Deep Creek Picnic area in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Look for directional signs in the park to the gathering area.
• Start time: Arrive at the gathering area at 9:00am. Riding starts at 9:30. Ride will conclude by 12:30pm.
• Bryson City Bicycles has kid’s bikes (in limited quantities) to rent for $15 for the event. Reservations will be taken on a first come first serve basis.
• Helmets are required. BCB has helmets for sale and rent if you do not have one.
• Waiver form is required and will be available at pre-registration at the shop or on-site the day of the event for those registering by phone.
This event will highlight bicycle safety and proper trail etiquette. Rangers from the National Park Service will participate and will share information about Park highlights. The ride will be led on Deep Creek Trail and Indian Creek Trail by Andy Zivinsky, co-owner of Bryson City Bicycles with other adult volunteers.
